What is Hot Yoga?
Bikram yoga or HOT YOGA is a 90-minute program that consists of a series of standing and stretching yoga positions performed in heat. The different positions work on all major muscle groups. The intent is that the heat loosens your muscles and the sweat helps cleanse your body and soul.
During a session of hot yoga, the room is heated to approximately 105 F and has a humidity of 40 percent. The demanding nature of the poses while practicing in heat are intended to raise your heart rate and exercise your muscles.

The key to enjoying hot yoga is to go in prepared
• Be well hydrated before taking a practice session you can drink a fortified drink, such as Gatorade, Emergen-C or coconut water before and after class to keep up with the loss minerals and electrolytes in sweating.
• Before a class, try not to eat too much to avoid upset stomachs and side aches. It is not advisable to eat within two hours before you take a class.

• Sweating makes it slippery! Find that tight-fitting tops and capris or long pants to prevent slipping during poses
• Remember the temperature. Some of our instructors like it hotter than others.
• Avoid the tendency to over-stretch in the heat..
